Services and Fees
Our services and fees are tailored to help different programs meet their specific goals. Whether it is developing a new exchange program to China or providing critical strategies to new Mandarin teachers in a middle/high school immersion classroom, Kojo Chinese Consulting offers a variety of options to meet your budget and needs. Below are the categories of services we provide:
SERVICES
Meaningful Exchange Programs Training and Development - Research has revealed that the vast majority of exchange programs to China are unnecessarily overpriced and/or do not improve students' language skills or cultural competence. Too many Mandarin programs in the US rely on agencies or companies to run and manage their programs, or simply send their students to a well-known school in China (often for an exorbitant fee) with little or no input on their curriculum, instruction, and itinerary.
By contrast, Kojo has spent the last 7 years developing and leading short term exchange programs in China that focus on micro-tourism to maximize language use, promote extensive cross-cultural interaction, provide community service opportunities, and minimize costs. On his programs, every waking hour is considered a language and culture opportunity: students engage in student-led, small group (4-5 students) field studies - leading a chaperone on several different excursions – exposing students to the incredible contrasts and contradictions of a fast-changing China, including ancient towns, modern metropolises, and historical attractions. Students are expected to buy their own tickets, ask directions, navigate transportation, and interact with locals in order to learn about the history and culture of each field study site and complete the hand-outs for each field study. In the evenings, students stay with their host family, and experience daily life in a typical Chinese family first-hand.
